Following its recent announcement of a partnership with WTS Energy, Hiber announced a major agreement with Shell that provides the energy giant with access to Hiber's satellite-connected IoT well-monitoring solution. The global framework of the agreement allows all Shell entities and subsidiaries to use the HiberHilo product across the world.

Hiber developed HiberHilo, an end-to-end IoT solution that makes well monitoring both safer and more data-driven. HiberHilo uses satellite technology to enable oil and gas companies to measure real-time well temperature and pressure for up to 250 remote and offshore wellheads within a radius of 10km.

Shell aims to use HiberHilo to reduce the amount of travel to and from wells in remote locations. The solution also allows the company to get more data on their well performance and to monitor well integrity issues more effectively, thereby improving the safety of remote and offshore wells. Shell operations in South-east Asia, the Middle East, and Africa are considering HiberHilo.

“After testing HiberHilo, the opportunity was clear,” said Ian Taylor, global principal technical expert for well integrity at Shell

“HiberHilo is a simple solution to help oil and gas companies improve safety, optimize operations, and reduce their environmental footprint,” said Coen Jansen, Hiber’s chief strategy officer. “We’re thrilled to be working with Shell toward a technologically cleaner future. Hiber’s mission is connecting everything everywhere to deliver productivity and sustainability in global industrial IoT.”

Working in close collaboration with UK-based agency PR Network, ZingPR executed a thorough media outreach campaign to secure immediate coverage in some of the oil and gas industry’s top trade publications—with the potential for more stories down the road.

PR strategy and results

The announcement was pitched to publications in the oil and gas sector as well as IT/IoT reporters who track IoT use cases. These US publications, plus additional coverage secured by the UK team, resulted in numerous feature stories. This valuable media coverage represents an important element of Hiber’s ongoing program to educate decision makers about its innovative IoT solutions for the energy industry.
