Trilibis SNOW IO Image Optimization for IBM WebSphere Now Available in IBM Cloud Marketplace

SAN MATEO, Calif.— July 15, 2015: Trilibis, the company that makes websites device-aware, announced a partnership with IBM that brings the power of its SNOW® Image Optimization solution (SNOW IO) to the IBM® Cloud Marketplace. By installing SNOW IO on an IBM® WebSphere® server, IBM customers can boost the performance of image-rich retail websites, shortening page-load time and improving conversions as well as overall customer experience.
SNOW IO is a lightweight image-optimization solution that automatically improves website performance and bandwidth utilization for responsive websites. SNOW IO gives IBM WebSphere customers a simple and efficient way to ensure that their image-rich websites load fast — especially on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.
Installed as a simple plug-in on any IBM WebSphere server, SNOW IO automatically resizes and compresses images so that they are optimized for thousands of devices. At runtime, SNOW IO works in conjunction with the web server to identify the type of device that is accessing the website, and then ensure it is served images optimized for that specific device. The resulting performance increases can be dramatic. During testing conducted with IBM, SNOW IO reduced the image weight of IBM WebSphere Commerce pages by 23 to 61 percent. While a number of factors contribute to the overall weight of a web page, in a survey of top responsive websites, Trilibis found that the size of website images is a significant contributor to lengthy page-load times on mobile devices. SNOW IO can reduce page weight from megabytes to kilobytes, and shave valuable seconds off overall page-load times.
